Fall 2017 Course Selections
Every month we’ll focus on a major issue facing kids and families today.
And every month, you’ll have 2 Options to choose from – or you can choose both!
Our FREE WEBINARS (1 hour) provide you with an overview of the problem and an introduction to the Mindful Solutions Approach that you can use to overcome it. You’ll also be joining me for a Live Q&A Discussion about this topic. And don’t worry, if you miss it live, you can still catch the Video Replay!
Each Webinar addresses these 5 basic issues:
- What is the problem? (Signs or Symptoms)
- Why pay attention to this? (Effects on our kids)
- How does this happen? (Causes and Contributions)
- What can we do about it? (Suggested Solutions)
- Where can I get more help? (Recommended Resources)
Our ONLINE COURSES (3 hours) provide all of the above, plus detailed steps and strategies for how to implement mindful solutions that will work best for you and your child. Each Online Course includes six 30-minute Modules, each one containing a Video Lesson and Audio Guided Exercises, along with a Personal Playbook to track your progress.
Mindful Solutions for Schoolwork Success: Homework Efficiency Training
The #1 thing kids say they don’t like about school is the “H” word. HOMEWORK is often seen as an ever-present black cloud hovering over the heads of students and parents alike. Distraction, procrastination and motivation problems. Forgetting, losing, avoiding, lying. Nagging, scolding, checking, confronting. These family homework battles make learning miserable and schooldays exhausting.
This program uses mindfulness-based strategies to reduce homework stress and increase school success. You’ll learn how to set your student up for successful homework routines without argument – by being clear, calm, kind, and consistent (yes, it’s possible!) You’ll also learn how to use the 5-Step “Homework Loop” to make sure your child can get their schoolwork done efficiently – both quickly and accurately – so you all can enjoy your evening with more fun and less fighting.

Mindful Solutions for Toxic Stress: Transforming Daily Stress with Mindfulness
Our children and families are experiencing toxic levels of stress like never before. Our brains are repeatedly reacting to overwhelming daily demands with automatic “Fight or Flight” stress reactions. We frequently snap at, argue with, or avoid one another. We suffer aches and pains, digestive and sleep problems, pervasive anxieties and frustrations.
As parents, we try to support our children – who are increasingly distracted, disorganized, distressed, and disregulated. Yet who’s supporting us? How do we deal with our stress, so it doesn’t get downloaded onto our kids and feed a vicious cycle of stress that can lead to breakdowns and burnout?
This program will introduce you to a vital antidote for the epidemic illness of our time – toxic stress. This antidote isn’t a miracle cure, and it isn’t magic. It’s a skill that can be developed, with practice, by anyone. It’s called mindfulness. Mindfulness – as many neuroscience studies are confirming – is the gateway skill to emotional resilience and well-being.
In this fundamental course, you’ll learn all about mindfulness – what it is, why it matters, and how you can begin simple daily practices that have the power to transform your relationship with stress. You can’t stop the waves of stress in life, but you can learn to surf them. Mindfulness skills can help you stay afloat, even in stormy seas, rather than getting swamped and drowning. Come join us for some fun surfing lessons!

Mindful Solutions for Healthy Relationships: Cultivating Compassionate Connections
Our children often feel like they’re not enough these days – smart enough, pretty enough, cool enough, good enough. Why? What’s going on here? One major contributor: in this relentlessly plugged-in yet fragmented and angry world, what we’re often missing is heartfelt connections. We need to find ways to reconnect with what matters most in our lives – loving relationships.
And a key pathway to reconnecting is through mindful compassion. When we can be present with one another with both an open mind and an open heart, then all things are possible. Our children can know that they are more than enough. Yet we can’t give what we don’t have. So, first, we begin with practices of self-care – so that we can then turn to others in our family, schools, and community with a wise and peaceful heart.
In this program, you’ll learn self-compassion practices and compassionate practices for others that can help you feel more connected with your kids and community. You’ll learn practical ways your family can communicate and connect with more kindness. And you’ll rediscover simple ways to just hang out together with more love and laughter.
