5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Welcome!

If you’re considering private counseling or therapy services with me, you need to know these 5 (+1) things from the start:

PRIVATE PAY

  1. My services are currently for patients who are willing and able to pay for services, in full, as you go.  We do not participate as a preferred provider with any insurance companies, and we do not bill insurance.

We will provide you with monthly invoices that you can submit to your health insurance or health savings account for potential reimbursement. NOTE: insurance companies vary widely in their mental health reimbursement rates.

FEES

  1. The Initial Consultation fee is $550. This includes an Intake Interview, Assessment Questionnaires, Collateral Consultations with school, pediatrician, etc. as needed, and a Feedback Session with Diagnostic Summary & Treatment Recommendations.

The standard therapy fee is $150 (45-minute session).  A typical course of treatment is around 10 sessions, costing approximately $1500.  Your individual needs may vary, and we will determine your specific needs, together, as we proceed.

MINDFUL SOLUTIONS THERAPY

  1. After the initial consultation and assessment, you may decide to continue with therapy with me. If you do, you'll typically engage in our Mindful Solutions Therapy program. MST focuses on a skill-building approach for both parents and kids.  We’ll increase your child’s Self-Awareness, Self-Acceptance, and Self-Regulation skills, while building healthy Co-Regulation and Mindful Parenting skills.

MST is an integration of various mindfulness-based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies (including MBSR, MBCT, ACT, and DBT).  This rigorous approach helps to reduce stress and improve resilience, while strengthening your child’s mental health and your family’s relationships.

LIMITED AVAILABILITY

  1. Office availability is limited due to other professional and personal commitments.

Clinic office hours are typically 2:00 – 6:00 pm, Monday thru Friday. This applies to both Office and Telehealth appointments.

Expect to schedule some appointments during your child’s school day and your workday.  (Yes, doctor’s excuses for school are available.)  We'll work with you in extenuating circumstances to try to accommodate additional appointment times, when needed.

Generally, I'm not available for immediate crisis interventions.  I will, of course, get back to you for urgent needs asap.  And we’ll always have a Crisis Plan in place.  Rest assured; we’ll work together to ensure that your family’s needs are met along the way.

PRACTICE

  1. There are no guarantees. You’ll get out of this, what you put into it.  I’ll provide expert therapeutic guidance along the way, along with plenty of supportive encouragement and resources.

Ultimately, however, there’s only one way to improve anything, including your mental health: PRACTICE.  So, expect to have regular therapy work to do between sessions in order to develop more healthy habits of mind – for your child and you too!

FINAL NOTE:

I do NOT treat:

  • Preschool  or College age kids.
  • Youth with Eating Disorders or Drug & Alcohol Disorders.
  • Families experiencing ongoing Divorce & Custody Disputes.

If one of these fits your child or family situation, please do not register for an appointment with me; I'm not able to help.  You may seek services with one of these other recommended therapists.

Thank you for your understanding.
