Mindfulness Meditation Classes

Self-Care for the Caregivers

NOTE: These classes are now closed until Fall 2024.  Please let us know if you'd like to be on the Wait List to receive further notifications.

WHO is this for?

If you are a personal or professional caregiver of children - a parent, grandparent, foster parent, teacher, counselor, paraprofessional, social worker, case manager, healthcare provider, childcare provider, etc. - you are probably finding yourself tired and overwhelmed many days.

You may find your mind filled with racing thoughts, your body filled with restless emotions. You may feel scattered or anxious or frustrated, and running on empty more than you like.

As caregivers, we are focused on giving our children the best care we can. And in today's toxic-stress world, that job is exhausting.

If you can relate, this class is meant just for you (and me!).

WHAT is Mindfulness Meditation?

MINDFULNESS is simply a way of paying attention. It's paying attention on purpose, to the present moment, non-judgmentally. It's about learning to focus your mind on what's here & now, with kindness & curiosity.

It's about approaching life with an open-mind and an open-heart. It's present-moment awareness and acceptance.  Wisdom and compassion.

I call mindfulness the gateway skill to emotional intelligence and resilience.  It's not a miracle cure for anything.  But it is an essential entry point for any type of beneficial stress reduction, self-regulation, mental health, or social justice.

And the good news is that it's a learnable skill that research shows can lead to significant, healthy changes in your brain.

MEDITATION is simply the practice of focusing your attention. It's a way of strengthening your ability to notice clearly what's present, with less distracted and distorted thinking.  Meditation is really brain training exercises.

So Mindfulness Meditation is training your brain to PAUSE more often, rather than being swept downstream in crazy currents of modern life.  To RELAX the body and REFOCUS the mind.  So you can RESPOND more thoughtfully, rather than react so emotionally, to life's demands.

WHY should I, why would I...?

We all need time for self-care.
Time for relaxing the body and refocusing the mind.
A quiet time and space for rejuvenation.

You need it.  I need it.

And we all deserve it.  Our kids deserve it too.

When we take better care of ourselves, we can show up as our best selves more often.  Better for us. For our families. For our schools. For our community.

HOW does this work?

You are cordially invited to join our Community of Conscious Caregivers - for a time of quiet meditation and reflection, as well as a brief teaching and group discussion.

Whether you're an experienced meditator or brand new to this, I'll guide you in practicing secular, mindfulness-based meditation exercises in a safe and supportive space.

We'll meet twice a month, on Wednesday evenings, at my office.
Register below to come when you can.
No fees, no hassle, no guilt.
All love.
